Native PFLAG's goal is to keep families together and foster the traditional teachings of being LGBT/Two-Spirit. To facilitate this goal, we provide a safe place for ALL members of the family to share their feelings and experiences with others who have been down the same road.
PFLAG was founded in 1972 with the simple act of a mother publicly supporting her gay son, PFLAG is the nation's largest family and ally organization. PFLAG is a national non-profit, uniting people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT). PFLAG is committed to advancing equality and full societal affirmation of LGBT people through its threefold mission of support, education, and advocacy.
PFLAG has over 400 chapters and supporters crossing multiple generations of families in major urban centers, small cities and rural areas in all 50 states. PFLAG Phoenix Native American Chapter, also known as “Native PFLAG”, is the only chapter in the country that is focused on supporting Native American communities and emphasizes traditional Native American LGBT/Two-Spirit teachings. Native PFLAG held it's first meeting on June 14, 2011. Click on the photo below to see a video of our chapter's founder, Sheila Lopez.
